Request for expression of interest (REOI) (individual consultancy services) recruitment of a water supply and sanitation specialist for zimbabwe multi-donor trust fund (zimfund)

 The African Development Bank (AfDB), being a significant and committed contributor to development in Africa, has been requested by a group of donors who are assisting Zimbabwe to establish and administer the Zimbabwe Multi-Donor Trust Fund (the “MTDF” or “ZimFund”). The purpose of the ZimFund is to contribute to early recovery and development efforts in Zimbabwe by mobilizing donor resources and promoting donor coordination so as to channel financial assistance to such efforts. The MDTF Management Unit (“MMU”) based in Harare, Zimbabwe, has been established and is responsible among other activities for the identification, appraisal, and supervision and monitoring of the implementation of the projects financed by the ZimFund.

In this regard, the AfDB requires the services of a highly experienced Water and Sanitation Specialist to be part of the MDTF Management Unit.

The assignment is expected to start on 1st October 2017 for a period of one year. The duration of the assignment may be extended for a further period based on need and the performance by the consultant. The consultant will be based in Harare and will be reporting to the Manager of the MMU (ZimFund Manager) based in Harare.

The main objective of the assignment is to provide water and sanitation related technical assistance to the ZimFund management Unit (MMU) during the continuation of the implementation of the ZimFund project.

THE SELECTION CRITERIA FOR SHORTLISTING

  • At least a Master’s Degree or its equivalent in any water related engineering, discipline;
  • Preferably, a minimum of fifteen (15 years) professional experience in planning, design, construction, supervision and maintenance of sanitation and water supply systems.

  • Good experience in result-based project management.

The MMU invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (past relevant experience, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions and qualifications). Information provided by the consultants will be used to prepare a short list of consultants who will then be requested to submit proposals.
